This week we had a different kind of challenge. Rather than dealing with a word, a picture, or a theme, we were asked to go back to the days of English 101 and use a writing style. This weekend? Personification. For those of you (like me) who are a bit rusty on the terminology, personification is the process of endowing an inanimate object with human traits and characteristics. The catch? We must do it in exactly 33 words. Oh boy….
**********
Silent Attacker
You vicious, vindictive villain!
You wield your sharp shape as a ninja brandishes blades.
You lie quietly in wait, concealed in the darkness or under a t-shirt.
Ouch! My foot! Damn you, Lego!

January 27, 2013 at 11:59 PM
Damn those things!!
January 27, 2013 at 7:04 PM
Ouch indeed!
January 27, 2013 at 7:51 PM
I would *almost* rather go to the dentist.
January 27, 2013 at 1:40 PM
Lego as weapon. Nice touch.
January 27, 2013 at 7:51 PM
A toy cleverly disguised as a means for destruction!
January 27, 2013 at 9:24 AM
Been there. That particular minifigure is a repeat offender!
January 27, 2013 at 10:17 AM
He has friends in my house. There is a veritable army of Lego offenders in my house… yet I continue to add to their ranks. Will I never learn?
January 27, 2013 at 9:07 AM
hahaha ouch
January 27, 2013 at 10:19 AM
Yes… ouch. You can’t believe how much they hurt!
January 27, 2013 at 8:32 AM
Loved it! Legos, the bane of my existence. Just when the kiddos are old enough for you to sleep in just a little, you are awakened each Saturday morning to the unmistakable sound of a box of legos being raked through. Over, and over, and over again….
January 27, 2013 at 10:16 AM
I credit Legos with giving me an extra 30 minutes of sleep just this morning! LOL
January 27, 2013 at 11:23 AM
Despite foot pain: best invention ever?
January 27, 2013 at 12:30 PM
Oh, I am not sure about that… I get a bit neurotic about losing pieces. I once wrote a piece about being a toy nazi…. :/
January 26, 2013 at 11:04 PM
Hehe.. Oops! Of late it’s the story of my life. Can totally relate to it.:-) Nicely done.
January 27, 2013 at 7:23 AM
If we can survive Lego torture…. bring on teenager life!
January 26, 2013 at 6:10 PM
Oh! Oh! Oh! I hated that! I absolutely hated that!
January 26, 2013 at 6:11 PM
Lego on the ground, not your work!
Just so we’re clear!
January 27, 2013 at 7:22 AM
So glad you clarified! Lol. I believe the streets of hell are paved with haphazardly-laid Legos.
January 26, 2013 at 5:53 PM
Nice! Never stepped on a lego…but now I can imagine doing so clearly enough! I think I’ll just avoid that particular experience all together
January 27, 2013 at 7:20 AM
Count yourself lucky, lady. I would wish a trek through a Lego minefield on my worst enemy… like maybe my ex-husband. Lol
January 26, 2013 at 3:00 PM
I hate Legos. They are sneaky little ninjas! I got rid of them all because my sons wouldn’t pick them up. I warned them
January 27, 2013 at 7:18 AM
If they weren’t such a family fave, they’d be gone. My kids do serious bonding over Legos, so if I got rid of them, I’d feel like a tool of discord. Lol
January 26, 2013 at 2:50 PM
Good one – I like or under a t-shirt – they turn up in the darnedest places.
January 27, 2013 at 7:16 AM
You mean: they *hide and hatch nefarious plots* in the strangest places.
January 26, 2013 at 2:46 PM
haha! love it.
January 27, 2013 at 7:14 AM
Thanks, Deana!
January 26, 2013 at 12:53 PM
Ouch! I’ve been there sister – the evils of Lego. Love this – fantastic take on the prompt!
January 27, 2013 at 7:14 AM
Thanks, Suzanne. Yes, those tiny little menaces… and I continue to buy them. O_o
January 26, 2013 at 12:22 PM
You might a well step on a floor full of tacks as step on Lego pieces! Totally get where you’re coming from. Well done!
January 27, 2013 at 7:12 AM
That’s exactly right! Legos have the wherewithal to cause serious tissue damage…
January 26, 2013 at 11:47 AM
Ha!h!Good one this-”You lie quietly in wait, concealed in the darkness or under a t-shirt.,”,a fun read:-)Lego-let go;-)
January 27, 2013 at 7:11 AM
Thanks!
January 27, 2013 at 12:45 PM
January 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM
That is the worst! Good choice for the challenge.
January 26, 2013 at 11:01 AM
and by worst I meant when you step on the Lego…not the post. Loved that
January 26, 2013 at 11:28 AM
Lol… I was feeling bad for a second there.
January 26, 2013 at 10:36 AM
some great alliteration in this piece . . . and, I am ever so glad the grands don’t bring their legos to my house anymore. OUCH!!!
