If you’ve read my posts, you know that I joined (re-joined) the Trifecta Writing Challenge shortly after beginning this blog. The biggest reason I joined this is to learn more about the process of writing. I love the challenges because they are more than the simple application of a word in a piece. These challenges have taught me about bring long-winded in my writing (cutting my pieces waaaaay back) and have encouraged me to get to the point with poetry. If your blog is about the writing process (or your desire to take part in it) you ought to check out the challenges. Now, in “Q&A” format, a little bit about me:
What is your name (real or otherwise)?
I am going by Undercover L, which is not my real name.
Describe your writing style in three words.
Humor, honest, sarcastic
How long have you been writing online?
This blog: about 2 months;
Previous blog: about 4 months
Which, if any, other writing challenges do you participate in?
I was invited to be part of Blog Festivus in December, which was a blast!
I also participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge and the Daily Prompt Challenge at Daily Post when I am suffering with writer’s block.
Describe one way in which you could improve your writing.
Asking for feedback from readers.
What is the best writing advice you’ve ever been given?
Start big and then whittle it down.
Who is your favorite author?
That’s like asking my favorite musician. I can’t pick a favorite because I love each author for the diverse experiences and feelings they give me. It would almost be easier to tell you who I don’t (yet) like.
How do you make time to write?
I write during the day when my daughter is otherwise engaged (Playdoh, napping, etc.).
Give us one word we should consider using as a prompt. (Remember–it must have a third definition.)
Triumphant.
Direct us to one blog post of yours that we shouldn’t miss reading.
My whole WTF Friday series, the favorite (by views) being WTF Friday: Volume 3.

Nice to read your answers. You are really dedicated with your writing/posting. I like writing challenges, too, but can’t seem to manage my time well enough to participate in very many. Maybe this year I’ll do better.

Well, it’s not like publishing novels isn’t a time-consuming activity! I only aspire to your authorship. As soon as I finish Outlander, I will be starting your book! I am excited!

No hurry to read the book!! It’s a good beach read in the summer.
I want to start writing the next book, but have promised myself that I will tackle some deep house cleaning first! Will you be publishing Outlander, or will it be available on your blog?

Outlander was written by Diana Gabaldon in the early 90′s. I am writing (attempting to write) a fictional novel-ish now, but we’ll see what develop. Didn’t do much today because of this migraine.

Ahhh, I see. I thought it was the title of a book you were writing. I am really out of the loop with today’s authors (because I’ve been in the world of children’s books for so many years). Hope that migraine relents soon.

I am just reveling in the post-migraine weakness today. They are quite a scary brand of migraines because they act a lot like a stroke. (Inability to speak, paralysis or numbness in one side of the body, seeing stars and zigzags, funny taste in the mouth, vomiting, and– in me– uncontrollable crying.) I did a lot of research yesterday as I was waiting for my knight in shining armor to come home and rescue me. I found out what they probably are, but I am not sure how I can treat them. I am going to see a neurologist soon. (I am just glad that they aren’t caused by a tumor in my brain, which is what I thought with all the aura– symptoms– of them.)
