Our challenge this week is to write a piece between 33 and 333 words that uses the following definition of the word wonder:
a) a rapt attention or astonishment at something awesomely mysterious or new to one’s experience, or b) a feeling of doubt or uncertainty
**********
First breath, a sigh. Beautiful wonder.
Ten perfect fingers, ten perfect toes.
Frail limbs folded together,
Protection from the cold and the world outside.
Helpless, needing, tiny baby boy.
Running, laughing, jumping and crying.
Childhood dreams, childhood wonder.
Friends and movies, dances and dates.
Homework, football, summer job and cars.
Graduation, road trips, and spring break.
College, roommates, dormitories and parties.
Ten perfect fingers, ten perfect toes, beautiful girl.
Engagement and marriage. True love and wonder.
Time to grow up and get a real job.
Working nine to five just to make ends meet.
Learning to communicate, loving the flaws.
Earning promotions, building a life, making a home.
Children are born, a family is made, the cycle continues.
Successful in life, rich in love, a life full of wonder.
Comfortable retirement, road-trips and cruises.
Aging, bending, older gentleman.
Ten gnarled fingers, ten gnarled toes.
Frail limbs folding together,
Protection from the cold and the world beyond.
A sigh, last breath. Beautiful wonder.

This is a lovely piece. A little sad and hopeful at the same time.
